I was at a Yankee game in 1984 during the end of the season Batting Title Run Off between Dave Winfield & Don Mattingly.
My seats were behind Winfield in right field. An older woman (I was 9) dropped her Yankees cap over the fence, and it fell on the field during play. Without hesitation, Winfield picked the hat up and will a "It happens" smile on his face personally handed it back to the woman.
Ever since then, I've been a fan. He's a class act, truly, though no one needs me to tell them that.
