Paul Angle (1900-1975), long-time secretary of the Abraham Lincoln Association and librarian of the Illinois State Historical Society, became a well-known Lincoln Scholar. In this wonderful easy-to-read illustrated overview of the Civil War he traces the conflict from secession to surrender, providing hundreds of historical photographs, maps, and prints. An excellent book especially for students just getting acquainted with Civil War history but also a solid introduction for adults. There is some wear and small tears on the dust jacket but the cloth cover and text are in great shape without corner bumping or stains, with tight binding and clean unmarked pages. Smoke free home. See all photos carefully to judge condition.
