I.W. Harper is a historic Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey brand, originally established in 1872 by Isaac Wolfe Bernheim.
"Bottled in Bond":
This designation indicates that the whiskey meets specific criteria outlined in the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, including being produced in a single distilling season by one distiller at one distillery, aged for at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse, and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV).
“The company began the production of an elite whiskey brand it called "I. W. Harper.” (The "I. W." may have been an abbreviation for "Isaac Wolfe,” with a different surname chosen for marketability.) During the Prohibition era in the U.S. (1920–1933), Bernheim Brothers was one of only 10 distilleries allowed to continue to make bourbon, as they had received a license to produce it for medicinal purposes.”
