Petite Chinese jar with depiction of young girl and boy feeding farm birds. This jar appears to be a decorative ginger jar. With a background of white porcelain. The colors are vivid and pronounced. This style of design originated in the Qin Dynasty in China. This is a petite/ small decor item. It would easily nest in the cup of your hand. While the artwork is unstudied and hand crafted. The delicate weight and size married with the beautiful colors against the glossy white background make it a beautiful statement piece without seaming fussy.
This is wonderful choice for placement with a similar assortment of jars. Add to a side table for a bit of elegant whimsy. Or, use as a small flower vase on a dressing table. We put about 45 grams of white rice in it and a used it as a pen stash by the phone in one of our guest rooms. The theme was MCM Asian esthetic decor. The "Made in China" mark in red suggests 1919-1949.
