Beautiful teal green pair of ceramic pieces by Lithuanian folk artist Eugenijus Tamasiunas. Included are a covered pot and a bud vase, both with lovely applied flowers. Signed on the bottom. No chips or cracks.
As a folk artist, Eugenijus makes vases, jugs, earthenware pots, mugs and a variety of other utilitarian and decorative pieces corresponding with Lithuanian traditions that have a rich and fascinating history dating back hundreds of years. His pieces are highly regarded for their superior artistic and technical qualities. Eugenijus traditionally fires some pieces to cone 10 in a gas kiln reduction technique, and other pieces to cone 5 in an electric kiln technique, creating a spectrum of rich earth tones, cobalt blues and teal greens with high-gloss finishes and rustic matte surfaces. He is listed in the book “Works of Lithuanian Folk Artists,” issued in 2001 by the LFAU’s Vilnius community.
