I make these beautiful Anglican prayer beads myself, they are not imported. This one is made from Onyx Agate and Jade. The Onyx Agate is matte and smooth to the touch. Anglican prayer beads are not wearable, as they are made to be kept on your person. The gift box is included. ֍ ABOUT ANGLICAN PRAYER BEADS ֍ Anglican Prayer Beads are a relatively new form of prayer, combining the Orthodox Jesus Prayer Rope and the Roman Catholic Rosary. The 33 bead design was created by the Rev. Lynn Bauman in the mid-1980s. Also known as the Anglican Rosary, Anglican prayer beads are a loop of Christian prayer beads. There are 33 prayer beads and 1 cross (or crucifix). They are used as a tactile aid to prayer and as a counting device. The loop is formed of thirty-two beads. Twenty-eight of the beads are divided into four groups consisting of seven beads, each which are called "weeks". The four larger beads separating the four groups are called "cruciform" beads. When the loop of an Anglican prayer bead set is opened into a circular shape, the "cruciform" beads form the points of a cross within the circle of the set, hence the term. The single prayer bead before the cross is called the "invitatory" bead, which brings the total of beads to thirty-three. The number 33 signifies the number of years that Jesus Christ lived on the earth. The number 7 signifies the completion in faith, the days of creation and the seasons of the Church year. Christian crosses such as the Celtic Cross are often used.
