Francisco PIZARRO EXHORTING HIS BAND AT GALLO Art by Ángel Lizcano Monedero 1894 Print

This is a Wood Engraving / illustration / print that has been taken from a book dated 1894 and is ready for framing. Measures approximately 11 1/2 x 9 inches.
Francisco Pizarro, Marquess of the Atabillos (c. 16 March 1478 – 26 June 1541) was a Spanish conquistador, best known for his expeditions that led to the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire. Pizarro had no intention of returning and when Tafur arrived at Isla de Gallo, Pizarro drew a line in the sand, saying: There lies Peru with its riches; Here, Panama and its poverty. Choose, each man, what best becomes a brave Castilian. For my part, I go to the south.
