Limited Edition Rare 2002 Yoshitomo Nara Ash Tray

First edition, limited edition ash tray released by Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara in collaboration with Bozart Toys, Philadelphia in 2002.

Ceramic tray. 10 inches in diameter.

Features a picture of a girl smoking a cigarette on the inside of the tray with “too young to die” 3D lettering that wraps around the exterior of the tray.

Yoshitomo Nara became a popular artist during the 1990’s Japanese pop art movement. He often depicts seemingly innocent, pastel hued children or animals. His works are currently displayed in the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.

Flaws (all shown in pictures):
-Small spot of missing glaze above the “to”
-Small spot of missing glaze above girls head
-Small black speck near girl’s leg
-Small dark spot and black speck at top right of tray
-General cracking in glaze consistent with age
-General wear and scratches on the outer rim of the underside of the tray where it rests on table/surface
