We have a total of (3) individual listings depicting elegant period / era Costume sketches / Drawings / Watercolors from what we believe was a vintage Theatre / Play of "The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde. Written & 1st performed in Feb of 1895 at the St. James's Theatre, London. Since the late 19th century, this has been performed worldwide many times, even a movie in the ‘50s!LIKELY in likely c1940s, by someone by the name of VICKI DOYLE (see back).Nicely sized at Esti 10” X 15”. Hand drawn on Bruin illustration Board. Typical for artists back in the day!On back of board is written:Vicki Doyle (Artist?)Miss Prism (Character)THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNESTOrange long floor length skirt, long sleeve matching blouse - great OUTFIT!!Covered by a tissue paper of sorts, somewhat discolored/aged & worn, tacked to the *back* of the board, so you can flip it up & over to reveal the color sketch underneath. Tissue is patchy yellow, shows edge wear/tear, old sticker residue, but it truly protected the sketch underneath which remains quite bright & mostly clean. Board w/little age discoloration, mostly edge/corner wear. Few marks here & there, some edge wear to the board & bumped corners, but overall wonderful. No COA. We believe ORIGINAL piece of art, likely mixed media to include watercolor & maybe pencil/graphite or ink.Without appraisal or other history, we just can’t guarantee age, origin, materials, etc. Comes to you as is, as found.O235
