TERRIFIC 1960's BLACK STRAW MILITARY "SIDE CAP" STYLE HAT + BLACK & RED FEATHERS

This beautiful 1960s' black straw hat is made in a modified "side cap" style, with an indentation at the top. The rounded crown is brimless, has a fold at the top, and has a spray of red and black feathers attached to one side. There is a longer black feather that falls towards the back, as photographed. A half veil is attached.A side cap is a military cap that can be folded flat when not being worn. It is also known as a garrison cap or flight cap in the United States, wedge cap in Canada, or field service cap in the United Kingdom.The hat wearing requirement from previous decades was drastically subsiding in the 1960s. Most dressy hats in the 1960s were worn by women who embraced the traditional etiquette rules of wearing hats to match the occasion.
