This is a beautiful example of the fashions of the 1940s'. The crown is actually a cap edged in grosgrain of a lighter reddish-browncolor. The brim extends downwards at the front, then curls around the crown to create a special rounded shape with an asymmetrical look. At the center front there is a large, wired bow of the same grosgrain as the edging,Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these.
