Celtic Frost, the original extreme death metal band, released this 100% cotton, black tee featuring the band's logo in red and white on the front with a solid black reverse in the early-mid 1980's.
This particular tee is not only a classic from the era, but it's from my personal collection of band and music tees that I began collecting since 1984 - during my junior high and high school days.
The shirt, seemingly hand-made by Celtic Frost themselves, boasts an off-kilter hand-screened logo placement with thickly applied ink, giving it a unique touch. Though lacking a brand name on the tag, common perhaps for a home brewed tee, the tag does provide the #RN-41638 which has been documented to correspond to t-shirt blanks used in the early '80s.
Legend has it that this tee once belonged to an undisclosed member of my group of friends who also happened to be the drummer in a local Maryland/DC death metal band from the same era before I "acquired it." It certainly graced the stage a few time
