This is a very rare item. It is an etching of a clown’s face done on marble and mounted on wood, by Brother Matthew OSF. From what I understand, he did more painting than etching. Etching was not his normal medium, so it makes this a rare piece. It is in perfect condition. The actual marble slab measures approximately 8.25 x 5.25 inches. The whole piece, including wood mounting, measures approximately 10 x 7.25 x 1.25. No chips, stains, cracks. It’s an original work of art signed by Brother Matthew and sold at his shop. I don’t know exactly what year it was created, but I believe it to be from the 1970s. This is a fantastic piece to add to your art collection!
Brother Matthew Gallagher, O.S.F. Born: September 25, 1923 Died: June 1, 2007. Brother Matthew, O.S.F. formerly John Gallagher of Morristown, New Jersey, entered the Franciscan Order in 1956.
After serving in the Army during World War II he attended the Newark School of Fine Arts. Upon graduation he opened a religious book store
