Katsura Funakoshi Prints 1987-2002

I encountered the works of Katsura Funakoshi when I was a university student, when I picked up Yasutaka Tsutsui's "Lipstick on the Afterimage." It was a beautiful picture that embodied the beautiful title, and, if I may say so, I liked the cover more than the contents of the book. So, it was about two years later that I learned that his main focus was sculpture/three-dimensional works, and I came to like him even more after seeing those works in a book. When I went to an exhibition where only his drawings were displayed, while I was viewing the works, memories of the woman I was dating at the time and my university days were faintly and somewhat transparently flowing through me. University students may have only happy memories, but for me, it was the worst time, and it was, in any case, boring. When I felt like my heart was breaking, I now think that I was somehow encouraged by the artist, whose work still remains in my memory, in those moments.
