The Million Hearts plant, (botanical name Dischidia Ruscifolia), is a charming epiphytic plant that is adored for its heart-shaped leaves and trailing habit. Native to the Philippines, this plant is perfect for adding a touch of greenery and romance to any indoor space. The Million Hearts plant is an excellent choice for indoor gardening enthusiasts due to its unique heart-shaped leaves and easy maintenance. Its trailing nature makes it ideal for hanging baskets, adding a romantic and lush feel to any space. With proper care, it can thrive and bring a touch of the tropics into your home.

  • Prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some morning sun but should be protected from harsh, direct sunlight to prevent leaf burn. Ideal placement is near an east-facing window.
  • Water thoroughly but allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Over-watering can lead to root rot, while under-watering can cause the leaves to wilt. Mist the leaves regularly as they can absorb moisture directly. Thrives in high humidity (40-90%). Use a pebble tray or a humidifier to maintain moisture levels. Grouping it with other humidity-loving plants can also help.
  • Use a well-draining potting mix. A combination of orchid bark, coconut husk, or sphagnum moss with perlite works well. Avoid regular potting soil as it retains too much moisture.
  • Propagate using stem cuttings. Cut a 4-6 inch stem with at least two nodes. Remove the bottom leaves and allow the cutting to callous for a day before planting in a well-draining potting mix or placing in water until roots develop.
  • Prune regularly to maintain shape and promote bushier growth. Cut just above a leaf node to encourage new stems and foliage.
