Danish Mid-Century Faience Royal Copenhagen, Signed 719/2883 Nils Thorsson Bowl

Danish Mid Century Faience:

A large faience dish – made by Royal Copenhagen – designed by Nils Thorsson – beautifully decorated with a décor in silk screen technique with relief effect – from Thorsson's "Baca"-range – the highly detailed pattern shows stylised fish, plants and ornaments, reminiscent of Nordic archaic art – the glaze in earth tone colours ranges from creamy white, beige, golden light brown, dark brown to black – in production from 1965 to 1996, this large bowl was made between 1969 and 1974.

By artist Nils Thorsson (1898-1975). Important Danish ceramic artist. Trained at the age of 13 at Aluminia Copenhagen, then studied at the Royal Danish Academy and graduated. Later artistic director over a period of 41 years, first at Aluminia, then at Royal Copenhagen.

Faience. Multicolored glaze.
