- Belizean Cacao - 100% of the cacao used to make our chocolate comes from the Toledo District of Belize - It is sustainably and naturally grown to produce a fine and distinctive cacao....never bitter! We never make chocolate from chips or couverture the way most chocolate makers do. We only make our fine chocolate from roasted cacao - which we roast over an open flame!
- No Single Use Plastic in Wrapper - Packaging is made from plant based cellulose. Jungle Cat Cacao is dedicated to having a positive imact on the environment. Our cocoa beans do not travel to Europe and back for manufacture. We collect our cacao ourselves and load it into our shipping container which we ship on our small truck to Belize City where is goes by ocean freight to Florida. From Florida the cacao travels by truck again to Wilmington, NC. Small carbon footprint!
- Belizean Cacao has a tropical, raisin/grape/raspberry flavor and is not bitter like other cacao. Put your preconscieved notions of dark chocolate candy aside - this dark chocolate isn't bitter!
- Single-Origin Chocolate - we press cocoa butter from Belizean cacao. Our magic ingredient which causes our chocolate flavor to go head and shoulders above other chocolate candy makers is our unflitered Belizean cocoa butter. You'd never guess how incredibly flavorful this cocoa butter is...it will make a Belizer out of you!
- All of the farm laborers who tended the cacao trees that bore this Belizean cacao were paid a living wage. Jungle Cat Cacao works together with the local villages near our farm to grow cacao in harmony with the jungle and in harmony with the local economy. We also contribute by donating used textbooks from Pender County NC to the villages near our farm.
- Both the cacao and the unrefined cane sugar used to make this chocolate are 100% USDA certified organic.
