So less tufts means more compression resistant filling inside, which is needed so that you do not feel the papasan frame beneath the pad. If you have the 46 inch diameter papasan frame (being the measurement that is directly across the dish - without allowing for its curvature) then you should buy this 52 inch cushion, because it is the best fit for this standard sized frame.
