It is a non-locking handle: the interior latch opens the door but does not provide security, so it should be used only where a lock is not required. The AJ handle installs with standard 1-3/4" hole spacing and is compatible with both left- and right-handed doors. Replacement installation is simple: remove 2 screws, swap the handle, and reinstall. For new doors, drill 3 standard holes and ensure the interior latch does not interfere with your main entry handle.
