The Convair F-106 Delta Dart, an all-weather interceptor, evolved from the F-102 'Delta Dagger'. Initially designated F-102B, it was renamed F-106 due to significant structural changes and a more potent engine. The first F-106A took flight on Dec. 26, 1956, with deliveries to the Air Force commencing in July 1959. Production ceased in late 1960, totaling 277 F-106As and 63 F-106Bs.
