The Hobby Master HA1008 is a 1:72 scale F-104G German Air Force model, representing the Jabog 31 'Boelcke' unit. The F-104 Starfighter, known for its short, sharp wings, was the first aircraft to sustain Mach 2 speeds, earning it the nickname 'The Missile With A Man In It'. Widely purchased due to financial reasons, it served in the USAF from 1958 and was decommissioned in Italy in 2004. The German Air Force acquired around a third of all produced F-104s, with JBG31 being the first operational unit to fly them in 1961. Named after WWI ace Hauptmann Boelcke, this unit logged over 200,000 flight hours by April 1982. Despite its difficulty to fly, JBG 31 lost 18 aircraft, resulting in 14 pilot fatalities.
