Another member of Dormer's "Shark Line" taps, the E300 machine tap for metric fine threads comes in sizes from M4 to M30. The coloured ring on Shark Line taps lets you see at a glance which material the tap has been designed to cut. The E300 has a yellow ring which means this tap is designed to thread low alloy steels such as leaded steel, magnetic soft and structural steel. Made from powder metal High Speed cobalt, the E300 will give you improved performance and better tool life, and is manufactured to conform to the German Institute for Standardization. With a spiral flute, the E300 should be used to thread pre-drilled holes which go all the way through the work piece. The tap has a chrome nitride coating, designed to give a more accurate, cleaner thread by preventing work piece material from sticking to the cutting edges of the tool.
