Freez-well freezer locker paper is a polyethylene coated white food wrap used to protect food from freezer burn. Freezer burn occurs when moisture escapes from the interior of foods through a process called sublimization. When defrosted, the food is dried out and loses it appeal or may even be unfit to eat. Often the tell-tale sign of this is ice crystals forming on the outside of food. This ice is the moisture from the food itself which has been drawn out over time in the freezer. Freez-well freezer locker paper retards this process by sealing moisture in and cold air out of the food. The paper substrate conforms to the food while the plastic seals in moisture to protect it. The better the contact between the coating on the sheet and the food being wrapped, the longer the paper will protect it. All freez-well sheets are specially formulated to mold and conform to he contours of the product to give extra protection from burn. Freez-well economy is our most cost effective solution, offering 3 to 6 month protection. This sheet is constructed with a 35# base sheet extruded with 5# of LDPE. This sheet is perfect for grocers packaging meats or other perishable for short term storage. It is also popular with high volume processors in the quick serve frozen food market. Freez-well standard is our most popular freezer locker paper, offering 9 to 12 month protection. This sheet is made with a 40# base sheet combined with a 5# LDPE barrier. Grocery operations, independent butchers and meat processors rely on the protection afforded by freez-well standard. This sheet is often used to put up meat harvested during hunting season.
