This is an absolutely gorgeous specimen of very-rare and extinct Sea Mollusk named Ammonite or Ammonoid. Stunning colored Opal-Like jewelry items are made from this iridescent organic gemstone, known as translucent Ammolite.
The beauty of this somewhat golden-beige fossil is hard to describe because it contains colors of orange-like red, blue and green in the sunlight. These renowned “Gemstones of the Sea” are estimated to be between 67 - 420 million years old. Because of its age, there are a few (very hard to see) imperfections in the gloss glaze coating. Also see a crack (pics) that was repaired, sealed and very strong. If no repairs, we’d list it for over $1200.
