Holmegaard glass Christmas Schnapps flask bottle has a brass topped cork stopper with a ring pull. Playful design by Harald Wiberg references the traditional Christmas tomte troll as it strolls with a friendly cat on a snowy landscape. Smaller design on reverse. Makes a great holiday decanter. About 7.25” x 4.5” x 2.75”. 1991 Made in Denmark. Very good condition with a clean cork and aged brass patina.
In Scandinavia, Pixies or Nisse are household spirits responsible for the care and prosperity of a farm or family. the 1840s the farm's Nisse became the bearer of Christmas presents, and was then called Julenisse (Swedish Jultomte , the Norwegian Julenisse , the Danish Julemand and the Finnish Joulupukki ) and has been associated with Christmas ever since.
Harald Wiberg (1908 - 1986) was a Swedish writer, artist and illustrator. He was best known for his illustrations in the books about tomten.
